The Field Lengths feature is used to redefine the lengths of many
fields, only in the reports area of the system. The width of a
report is determined by the combined width of its columns. Column
width is determined by a field's length or its label, whichever is
longer. (A field is the area where information is entered. A label
names the field. For example, VC is the label for the Vendor Code
field.)
To fit more columns on a report page, one can shorten the lengths
of fields or labels. This permits a more economical presentation of
results on the page.
