EZSwipe
Extension
The EZSwipe module is a
plugin for Retail Pro that reads customer data from the magnetic strip on a
drivers license. The EZSwipe module is launched from Retail Pro when the user
clicks the “EZSwipe” button while creating a new invoice.
EZSwipe captures the information
from the license and adds it to the invoice/customer file.
EZSwipe advantages:
- Point of sale speed is
greatly increased.
- Helps maintain a consistent
and clean customer file in Retail Pro.
- Eliminates human error
in customer data.
- Can be configured to
work with most 3-track and 2-track magstripe readers.
The process:
- The user clicks the “EZSwipe”
button (figure 1.1).

- The EZSwipe main screen
is displayed.
- The user swipes the drivers
license through their magnetic card reader.
- Data from the drivers
license is collected and displayed on the main screen (figure 2.1).

The user has the option of creating a new customer entry for the drivers license
data shown on the left, or matching the data to an existing customer listed
on the right.
After the user has made
a choice, EZSwipe returns the user to the invoice screen. The invoice is automatically
populated with the customers information.
Configuration
Here are some of the configuration options available with EZSwipe (figure
3.1).
